Volunteers needed…

Hello all members, visitors and subscribers!

Street Speech has passed the 500 mark– that’s 500 vendors.  To date, we have nearly 540 registered Street Speech vendors. We have three office staff. As you can probably tell, the numbers aren’t in our favor for keeping up with data, paper counting and the like.

What we need the most help with is data entry and up keep. If you have a couple of hours a week to donate and you can work with Excel, please let Katelyn know at street.speech.columbus@gmail.com

Believe it or not, the data entry is very important and it means the world to vendors that we keep up with it!!

Memorial was a huge success!

We want to thank everyone who attended, spoke for, and gave to the memorial service that the Coalition held for our lost homeless friends. The pictures below capture some of the best moments at the event.

A special thanks to Jim Rose for working so hard to put it on, Trinity for allowing the Coalition to use the space and our Street Speech vendors, Wayne Jones, Ricky Bowles, JohnnyJohnson and Jeff Ethridge, who helped out at the event.

Thanksgiving and Christmas

’tis the season to be jolly….

Street Speech recently had a Thanksgiving Dinner for the hard-working and tireless vendors. Thanks to Spirit Uniforms, the Haaks, the Crawfords and Starbucks (as well as Street Speech staff and volunteers), we were able to have a great dinner and some gifts. These gifts included dress pants, jackets, Thanksgiving cards, cook books and more.

Street Speech is also having a Holiday/Christmas party  for the vendors, on December 22nd from 1-5pm. This party will include Christmas sweets and gifts. Every vendor will be offered dress pants, jackets, button up shirts (from Spirit Uniforms), 10 free papers and gifts for their children or grandchildren. We will also raffle off donated gifts, such as two fleece blankets, Este Lauder perfume, a bath set, a bath set for men and bags. There are a few things our vendors would still like and still need though:

* A month COTA pass   *deodorant    *Kroger or Wal-Mart gift cards

The blankets are also very popular items, so if you can donate new blankets, please do so!

Thank you so much for the consideration and time.  Happy Holidays!

Remembering Our Friends…

This year’s Annual Interfaith Memorial Service is coming up. It will be Monday, December 21st at 5:30pm at Trinity Episcopal Church (located at the corner of Third & Broad Street).

This event is held every year on or near the shortest, coldest day of the year to honor and remember those who have passed away who were homeless or formerly homeless. The service is run by representatives from various faith backgrounds. It is concluded with a candle lighting ceremony to honor our friends.

Please join us in honoring and remembering our brave friends.
